NO to Gender-Based Violence

As members of SCOUTS South Africa, we promote a culture of understanding and peace. We live according to a set of values that embrace unity, equality, courteousness, honour, and respect.

For over 23 years Scouting in South Africa has been open for all genders and has been promoting gender equality throughout the Movement. Today, nearly 48% of our membership are girls and young women. Children, youth and adults partake in the same activities together, they lead together, and they acknowledge each other as equals. Gender norms are challenged whilst learning new abilities, positive examples are set, and safe places for discussions are created.

16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

We call upon our members to add our voices to the “16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence” campaign from Saturday 25 November 2023 to Sunday 10 December 2023.
Flood your social media, WhatsApp Groups, and communities with orange. Wear orange clothing, scarves, shoes, accessories, anything orange to make your voice heard both during and outside of your Scouting activities.

Post and share your photos with the hashtags #Scoutsorangetheworld #16Days #Scouts4SDGs #SDG5. Tag @SAScout or WhatsApp (068 0699 463) and share your orange Scouting photos so we can share some of those too.

Let’s be seen, heard, and understood. SCOUTS South Africa stands against gender-based violence.
