The Rayner Trophy is an overnight hiking competition for senior Scouts between the age of 14½ and 18. This year it took place from Bains Kloof across Canetsfontein and into Hawequas Scout Adventure Centre which was the overnight stop. The second day took Scouts south of Hawequas on a boomerang loop (back to Hawequas). The weather was very kind and in fact perfect cool conditions for this time of year. The theme of the competition was LNT (Leave no Trace).
Congratulations to 1st Claremont for coming 1st and 2nd and thus retaining the Rayner Trophy. Very well done to 6th Rondebosch for coming 3rd. This demonstrates a stunning result for 1st Claremont and is a challenge to other Troops to raise standards of Scouting skills, leadership, cooperation within a team, attention to detail (paid up entry in on time, etc.), training and I am sure other factors too not mentioned here.
