The Upton Shield competition was held at Hawequas Scout Adventure Centre. The new South Circular and North Circular hiking routes were used. Conditions were very misty in the morning and allowed for very pleasant hiking in the cool conditions but became quite warm when the mist lifted at midday. Congratulations to 1st Claremont for winning the Upton Shield. Well done to the 1st Fish Hoek Guides for coming second and 6th Rondebosch for coming third. Well done and many thanks to the judges, parents and of course Scouts who all made the event pan out successfully. Thanks to Derek Leisegang and his team for running the competition. All this was achieved under different circumstances which demanded a staggered start for Patrols, social distancing, masks and of course meeting all the Scouts SA required protocols to ensure safety during the Covid-19 pandemic.
