The annual Adult Leader Awards celebrate our Adult Leaders and recognise their length of service as well as acknowledge those who have gone beyond the call of duty. This year’s awards recognised Maureen Louw who will be receiving her 60-year service award. She is a member of the 1st Monte Vista Group and in honour of her, the event was hosted at the Monte Vista Scout Hall. Kuba Miszewski, the warden of Hawequas, received the Order of the Silver Protea for his exceptional service to Scouting over many years.
Awards were presented by the Regional Commissioner, Nimmy Abrahams, and the Chief Commissioner, Gary Pienaar. Lawrence Stanton was the keynote speaker.
On Saturday 25th, we will have an Awards Ceremony in the Outeniqua District in the Southern Cape for the first time. The number of recipients in this District merits a separate ceremony. We have experienced phenomenal growth in this District and the DC has shared some exciting news of interest in starting yet another group in the District. Kranshoek in Plettenberg Bay is about to open it’s doors and we’ll soon see further expansion West of Mossel Bay.
Congratulations and thank you to the award recipients, and thank you to the Awards Committee – Conrad Thomas, David Knight, Peter Meyer, Mark Abrahams and Shanet Rutgers for the hard work put in ahead of the event. A special thanks to Shanet for taking the lead in organizing this evening.
