We have hit the midyear break, after term 2 highlights included Kon-Tiki for all our age groups, Upton Shield, PLTU, Senior Cub Camp, and many badge courses and adult training courses.
Scouting in Schools is active during the holidays providing a programme for YeboScouts while schools are closed. The position for RTC Scouting in Schools is currently vacant so please reach out if you are interested in taking up this all-important position.
We are thrilled with growth in the region. Kranshoek has opened with a bang down in Plett and the interest shown by Stilbaai is most encouraging. In August, one weekend of the Scout Warrant course will be hosted in the South Cape for the first time.
In the term ahead, we have a good line-up of scouts tackling their Springbok projects and we urge all scouts to get involved in these, even if it’s not in your own Troop. Demand has increased for our badge courses especially junior courses, LDC and PLTC. The Scout Programme team is working on a plan which will potentially mean offering more courses and decentralization of courses.
In August we will be hosting POW WOW 2024 and welcoming adult leaders (especially Pack Scouters) from all over the country.

We want to hear from you! As always, your Meerkat, Cub, Scout, Rover and other scouting articles are most welcome. Please send them to the editor at nigel.forshaw@scouts.org.za. Please do not embed photos in MS Word documents (they usually get compressed and resolution is lost). Text in the body of an email with photos attached is the best method for potential articles, or WhatsApp or a web link. The closing date for the next Western Cape Scouter is Friday, 27 September 2024.
