Meerkat Camping Course at Appleton

Adult training is essential to make sure we prepare our volunteers to do their best possible job leading our young members. In February the Meerkat Camping course took place at Appleton Scout Camp. Ten Scouters completed the course, including three who drove down all the way from Eastern Cape South. Appleton was an amazing venue as usual and the participants’ tent pitching skills were challenged by extra strong winds during the night! Thanks to Judith Bishop who ran the course, with Marihett and Lucy as trainers.

To complete their Meerkat Camping certificate, trainees must now complete the practical side by submitting their planning for a camp and then running the camp for their Meerkats. These new camp leaders will put Western Cape Region – and Eastern Cape South – in really good shape to run exciting Meerkat Camps according to SSA Camping Policy.
