The Star Award Recognition Programme is a management and self-assessment tool that is also used to recognise Dens, Pack, Troops, Patrols, Crews and Groups who are meeting the Aims of SCOUTS South Africa. The Star Awards serve as an essential tool for unit leaders, Patrol Leaders, District Commissioners (DCs) and Support Team Members (STMs) to identify areas where support is needed.
The Star Awards take account of all activities completed between 1st January and 31st December every year. Participation in the Star Award Recognition Programme is voluntary. However, SCOUTS SA encourages every group, unit and Patrol to participate willingly and see benefit through the self-assessment process to monitor their own improvement and achievement of the minimum standards.
Results of the Star Awards were announced at the Western Cape Founder’s Day ceremony on 23 February 2025 along with the winners of the 2024 Tonkin Trophy.
