The Upton Shield 2023 was run at the Helderberg Nature Reserve on the 7th May with 321 scouts in 84 teams and 48 judges. The route hiked was a demanding uphill route and there were 21 tests along the way. The competition was won by 1st Claremont C with 1st Claremont A in 2nd place and 1st Bergvliet A in third place.
