Scouts serve the needy ahead of Eid

Eid al-Fitr is one of two major holidays celebrated by Muslims around the world. It commemorates the end of the holy month of Ramadan, in which Muslims fast daily from before dawn until sunset. Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. In addition to fasting ,it is a period of reflection, of worship, service, communal gathering, and spiritual development.

Eid al Fitr is commemorated by a large, community-wide prayer service in the morning, followed by meals and conversation with friends and family. This year it will take place on Wednesday 10 April.

Ahead of Eid, Scouts around the Western Cape and Western Cape Regional Commissioner Nimmy Abrahams assisted local organisation SANZAF in fitrah parcel packing to ensure that families in need will have something on their tables on Eid day.
