Liesbeek Meerkats, Cubs and Scouts wear their Uniforms with Pride on Founders Day

The tradition of wearing Scout uniforms to school on (or near) Founder’s Day on 22 February is still going strong! In the Liesbeek District, participation is helped along by contacting schools in advance and parents are reminded a few days in advance. It is a crowd sourcing effort, as the date for each school might vary. Excitement mounts on the main day and photos start pouring in.

This year, group and individual photos from these schools arrived. There were certainly others participating:

  • Barkly House
  • Bishops Prep
  • Forres Prep
  • German School
  • Herschel Girls School
  • Hidayatul Islam Primary
  • International School
  • Oakhurst Girls’ Primary
  • Pinelands High
  • Rondebosch Boys’ Prep
  • Springfield Convent
  • St George’s Grammar
  • Sweet Valley Primary
  • The Grove School
  • The Vine School
  • Westerford High
  • Wynberg Boys Junior School
  • Wynberg Girls Junior School

Most of these are shown in the collage.

Some schools really entered into the spirit of Founders Day. Wynberg Boys Junior School immediately sent out a branded formal picture, shown in the top centre of the collage.

Sweet Valley Primary had a special invitation in their newsletter to parents.

Scouts at Westerford High –
their pride in being Scouts is undimmed.

Scouting is cool at Pinelands High

Some Dens prepare the youngest Scout members – our Meerkats aged 5-6 – as to what to say if
invited to speak to their class. Kauthar Fredericks of Wynberg Girls Junior School was a real star
telling the spell-bound children about camping and hiking and her favourite badges.
