Western Cape Awards Ceremony

Adult leaders from groups in the Western Cape were recognised for exceptional service at the Regional Awards Ceremonies in Sedgefield on 17 May and in Cape Town on Wednesday 21 May. The event in Sedgefield covered the groups in Outeniqua District with Regional Commissioner Nimmy Abrahams attending. The event in Cape Town took place at the 1st Bergvliet Scout hall a few days later. Following  presentations by the Regional leadership team, awards were presented by the Regional Commissioner Nimmy Abrahams, Chief Scout Konzaphi Mdaka and Chief Scout’s Commissioner Gary Pienaar.

Leaders were recognised for 5, 10, 15 and 20 year Long Service Awards. Stuart Ravenscroft, the Heritage Coordinator for Western Cape, was recognised with a 40 year Long Service Award.

Merit awards were presented – Regional Commissioner’s Commendation, Certificate of Merit, Medal of Merit (Jonathan Webb, Raymond Middleton, David Knight, Julie Terblanche and Stef Terblanche – posthumous), Bar to the Medal of Merit (Norman Davies) and Certificate of Meritorious Conduct (Patricia Dingle).

The Order of the Silver Protea was presented to Peter Meyer, and the Chief Scout gave a special tribute to Father Charles Prince for his exceptional service in a number of Regional and National roles.
