Western Cape Scouter – past editions

In this quarterly edition of Western Cape Scouter:

We’ve once again had a very packed 2nd Term, with Meerkats, Cubs and Scouts having their independent Kon-Tiki events down at the Sea Scout Base, IYC and
Sandvlei Sports Facility. We also honoured our Volunteers and invited all Adult Leaders to the Annual Awards evening where we celebrated the contributions
of our volunteers to the movement and recognized those with a Long Service record of accomplishment and those who received merit awards.

Safe from Harm is a critical element in our movement and cannot be stressed enough. Kanonkop DC Sean Wilbraham has written an article that is included in this publication.

Our Cub Leaders have also gathered at our Regional Team Scream – they literally get together and Scream at the t op of their lungs – seriously though – it’s at events like these that the best ideas are born and it results in quality Cubbing in the Region. Nicky Jonas organized this event before handing over to Sharon Ievers as the new RTC Cubs, while Nicky takes up the position RTC Adult Leader Training.

A great deal of work is underway to ensure that our Regional Properties are kept in good order. The Gugulethu Scout Centre received some much-needed TLC and is looking good. James Stewart – our Regional Property Rep, has his sleeves rolled up and busy tackling a number of projects across the Region.

Editor’s Desk

I have received quite a number of articles long before the closing date and this helps me incredibly and avoids the rush for me after the closing date to finalise the Western Cape Scouter. To those who submitted articles early, very many thanks. Naturally of course, thanks go to all our contributors.

There are so many exciting Meerkat, Cub, Scout and Rover activities happening so may I encourage you to write in and highlight your stories for the Western Cape Scouter. Please read the article on “What is an Action Photo?” on page 4. The closing date for the next Western Cape Scouter is 26 September 2025. Please send articles to me at [email protected].
