SCOUTS South Africa is proud to be one of the first countries to pilot the Life Leaders Impact Innovators Challenge, an exciting new global initiative from World Scouting. We’ve been lucky enough to receive funding for this challenge, and if we do well in implementation we could receive more grant funding for other initiatives in future as well.
This programme is all about empowering young people with the tools they need to create real change. By learning design thinking — a creative, structured approach to problem-solving — participants will explore how to look at challenges in their communities from new perspectives, develop innovative ideas, and turn them into practical, impactful projects.
The challenge combines leadership, creativity, and action. You’ll not only gain valuable skills but also earn a certificate and work towards the brand-new Impact Innovators badge. The training is very practical and hands-on, and is always a lot of fun.
To launch this initiative, we’re hosting a training weekend for Scouts above 15, Rovers and Scouters in the Western Cape. Through fun, hands-on sessions, you’ll discover how to:
- Identify real needs and challenges in your community.
- Use design thinking to brainstorm and test creative solutions.
- Design projects you can take back to your Packs, Troops, and Crews.
- Inspire others to join you in making a positive impact.
NB!!! The grant funding we have received will enable us to fund grant funding for community projects and social business ideas, so if you have something in mind please join us for the training!
We will also provide you with the resources needed to play with design thinking in your Packs, Troops and Crews going forward.
