The Senior Cub Camp is a very popular event for 10 year old Cubs, taking place at Hawequas Scout Campsite, Wellington. The camp is a great way for 10 year old Cubs to round off their Cub journey, meet Cubs from other Packs, and find out more about the next step: becoming a Scout. Cubs will also earn their Outdoorsman Badge, one of the requirements for their Leaping Wolf. The camp is hugely popular and we always get great feedback from Cubs, parents and leaders.
In 2026 we are running two Senior Cub Camps, one from 10-12 April and one from 16-18 October.
Senior Cub Camp 16-18 October 2026
Entries for the October camp will open on 1 September and close on Friday 25 September. Payment for the camp will be due by Friday 2 October.
Pack Scouters will be notified via the Western Cape Scouters mailing list and WhatsApp channel, and are encouraged to send the invitation to parents of all eligible cubs who will be age 10 on the first day of the camp.
Cubs are to arrive at Hawequas between 16h30 and 17h00 on Friday and must be collected at 14h30 on Sunday. Transport is not included. All meals will be provided. Please ensure that any allergies or dietary requirements are clearly noted on the online application and consent form.
The cost of the camp is R800 per person. Once you are accepted on the camp, payment is due by 2 October.

Sponsorships and donations
We are very grateful to Outdoor Warehouse for equipment sponsorship for the Senior Cub Camp.
We are looking for sponsors for deserving Cubs who cannot afford the camp fee. This allows us to offer this great event to a wider spectrum of Cubs and not just those from better-off areas. This not only benefits those Cubs, but also the camp community as a whole. If you are willing to sponsor another Cub to attend this event, or contribute partially, please make a donation to Scouts South Africa, Western Cape Region, using the same bank details as the camp fees. Please use the reference “Donation Cub Camp” and let us know by email so we can thank you.
Withdrawals and waiting list
The Senior Cub Camp is always oversubscribed. We prioritise entries from older Cubs between 10½ and 11 since they will not have a chance to attend the next camp. Cubs between 10 and 10½ are also eligible, but will usually be given lower priority. Cubs who cannot be accommodated will be given priority on the following camp.
If your child needs to withdraw from the camp in advance, please let us know immediately so we can offer the place to another Cub from our waiting list. Cubs who are not accepted for the camp are eligible for a full refund, while those who withdraw more than 7 days before the camp are entitled to a partial refund. Please refer to the Refund Policy and contact the Western Cape Regional Scout Office to request the refund.
Adult and Scout leader applications
The camp is staffed by a team of warranted adult leaders and Scout assistants (age 15+). The invitation for staff applications will be sent out via the Western Cape Scouters mailing list and WhatsApp channel and staff entries will be via Scouts Digital
