Hawequas Garden of Remembrance

We are delighted to announce that as part of our continued development of Hawequas, we have recently laid out phase 1 of a Garden of Remembrance for members and loved ones who have ‘Gone Home’. This reflective space in the area of the old ‘Tigers Village’ was developed By Ethan Stopforth as a Springbok Service project. The Garden has benches for quiet reflecting (thanks to Stopforth and Hillier families), and looks onto stunning mountain fynbos views. A Memorial Board has been started.

The garden is open for use and members are invited to have a plaque placed on our memorial wall in memory of loved ones. Members may also arrange for ashes to be scattered in a dedicated area of the garden.

Do visit the Garden on your next visit and take time to reflect and remember loved ones who have passed away and Gone Home.

There are 2 plaque formats to choose from in a 150x90mm size. The current cost of a plaque is R500 and a minimum donation/bequest of R500 is requested to support further development of a water feature, border and memorial rock pile, upkeep of the Garden and funding of Scouting in the Western Cape Region.

Please contact Scouts SA Western Cape to request a plaque or donate to the Garden of Remembrance.
