Senior Cub Camp 2025

Senior Cub Camp 2025

Every six months, the Western Cape Scout Region hosts a Senior Cub Camp, bringing together 10-year-old children from across the Western Cape for an experience designed to challenge, inspire and prepare them for the next step in their Scouting journey.

From 10-12 April 2026 the camp will host 48 children from 25 different Scout Groups — including sponsored children from underprivileged communities on the Cape Flats and beyond.

The Senior Cub Camp is intentionally focused on skills development. Through teamwork challenges, leadership opportunities and outdoor adventures, the chidlren build resilience, confidence and practical abilities that set them up for success as they transition to the Scouts branch at age 11. Guided by 12 Scouts serving as mentors and 18 dedicated Adult volunteers, the children learn by doing while supporting one another, solving problems and stepping outside their comfort zones.

The setting for the camp is SCOUTS SA’s Hawequas Scout Adventure Centre in Wellington The perfect venue for the children to work on their Outdoorsman badge challenge, where they need to design, build and sleep overnight in tarpaulin shelters. This hands-on experience develops creativity, cooperation and self-reliance in a powerful and memorable way.

Senior Cub Camp support Outdoor Warehouse

Thank you Outdoor Warehouse

We are deeply grateful to Outdoor Warehouse for their generous sponsorship of eight tarpaulins, which will replace old and damaged equipment and allow this important activity to continue. Their support directly strengthens our ability to equip young people with practical skills and life lessons that extend far beyond the campsite. By supporting the Western Cape Scout Region’s Senior Cub Camp, Outdoor Warehouse is assisting with the growth and development of young leaders and helping SCOUTS South Africa to shape confident, capable individuals ready to take on the future.
