The Rayner Trophy competition for 2026 took place from 28 February to 1 March. Day one began at Silvermine and began with a hike through the mountains to Kalk Bay, followed by a train trip to Cape Town station. The patrols were then hosted at the Castle of Good Hope for night bases and slept overnight in the castle. Day two began with a hike through the city centre up to Deer Park and Tafelberg Road to the base on Platteklip Gorge, followed by the middle contour path to Oppelskop and the King’s Blockhouse. The weather was somewhat challenging throughout the weekend with regular squalls of rain. The competition ended at Rhodes Memorial where the results were announced and the trophy was presentedto 1st Hermanus, who won the trophy for the first time since 2007.
